Services we offer
Water/ Wastewater
Our capabilities extend from project conceptualization and problem assessment, through field investigations, various types of studies, conceptual and final design, permitting, construction management, and on-going consultation.
Water Systems
WCE ‘s consultants have worked on a variety of water projects throughout Arizona. Project designs include pipelines and conveyance system rehabilitation. WCE consultants have used modeling software such as WaterGEMS, InfoWater, and EPANet for modeling water projects and have been involved in developing a screening tool to assess the feasibility of installing electricity generating turbines in water distribution systems.
Wastewater Systems / Odor Control
WCE consultants have completed a variety of wastewater projects for the City of Nogales as well as in the Wickenbrg area and throughout Arizona. Projects include design of wastewater collection, treatment, and reuse, various studies, and permitting assistance. WCE also has specialized expertise in biological odor control systems and odor issue assessments.
We have also modeled sewer systems to asses expansion priorities to support future development.

Private Development
WCE consultants have completed a multitude of site plans for private developers in the Metropolitan Phoenix area as well as in and around Wickenburg. We are very familiar with development requirements especially in Maricopa County and Yavapai County.
Plan Reviews
WCE consultants have completed plan reviews including sewer and water utilities, paving, grading, and irrigation for municipalities in Arizona, especially the Town of Wickenburg and the City of Nogales.
Grant Assistance
We have been very successful consulting the City of Nogales with Grant Applications for a variety of projects. The City has received grants from WIFA, the Bureau of Reclamation, the Arizona Department of Transportation, the Arizona Commerce Authority, and the North American Development Bank in conjunction with the Border Environment Cooperation Commission (BECC). Services include collection of materials, and consulting the staff on completion and submission of application
Drafting
WCE uses AutoCAD for drafting. WCR staff has used AutoCAD extensively for decades for project work.

Project Management
Widget Creek Engineers has been conducting Construction Management for the City of Phoenix for nearly a decade.
The largest construction project that WCE was the lead on to date was a multi-million Dollar water system improvement project for the City of Nogales.

Growing up in Switzerland, the founder of Widget Creek Engineers learned about recycling long before “green” became fashionable. Widget Creek Engineers is committed to being sustainable out of personal responsibility.
We Do What We Can to Preserve Resources and Our Planet
- Our main office is located in a green facility built with alternate construction methods and materials. Natural heating and cooling as well as natural lighting were a main focus during design. The facility is also equipped with energy saving appliances and low flow utilities.
- Both office locations are in buildings equipped with photovoltaic solar panels producing 95% of the building’s electricity use!
- We recycle all recyclables, compost kitchen waste, and reuse water where feasible.
- We carpool and our vehicles have low gas mileage (Prius hybrid).
- With our daily activities, we formally join a global movement that recognizes that more must be done to meet the needs of the present while preserving the quality of life for future generations and our planet.

The founder and principal engineer of Widget Creek Engineers is accredited to help our clients gain LEED™ certification of their facilities. This means that the facilities meet the standards for environmentally sustainable design and construction established by the U.S. Green Building Council through their LEED™ Green Building Rating System.
